The Classic of Islay series by Jack Wiebers has become a classic itself. A number of bottlings are released under this label every year. Various ranges of only single cask bottlings are sold along with all the important detail on the label, except the name of the distiller. (Certainly distilled on Islay, but is this a Lagavulin ?) Lars-Göran Wiebers is a German importer from Berlin, who has released bottlings under the Jack Wiebers name since 1998.
Current stock is year 2020 – Cask 1217, 55.2% abv.
Nose : Peat, smoke, wet beach sand, milk choclate, raisins, black pepper, a handfull of fresh herbs, roasted almonds, tobacco and leather notes.
Palate : Smoke and ashes, caramel, vanilla, burnt toast with butter, prunes and cranberries, pepper, allspice and a pinch of salt.
Finish : Quite long, with notes of peat smoke, pepper, salted nuts, dried fruits, cocoa powder and oak.
