A 20 year old single malt from the Auchroisk Distillery, independently bottled as part of the Darkness range. As with the rest of this bottling series, it was given a finishing period in a specially-coopered sherry octave cask – this one, specifically, was finished in an octave that previous held Moscatel sherry.
Nose:Â Rum-raisin ice cream, toffee sauce and some chocolate shavings. Hints of stewed apple and cinnamon in the background.
Palate:Â Five spice, Seville orange, fruitcake and nutty malt.
Finish:Â More cooked apples and autumnal spices, plus sugared almonds.
