Highland Park 2006, G&M, Cask Strength, Single Malt Scotch Whisky

700 ml, 57.9% abv, Scotland (Island)

This 2006 vintage Highland Park was bottled by Gordon & MacPhail as part of their Cask Strength series.  Distilled on 22 June, it was matured in first-fill-bourbon barrels for 8 years and bottled on 6 May 2015.

“Malt, vanilla and fruit aromas. Smokiness develops. The palate is peppery initially with fruit flavours. A creamy finish with hints of bonfire embers”

Description

Nose without Water ; Sweet vanilla mingles with ripe pineapple and mango aromas. Milk chocolate notes develop and lead to a hint of butterscotch and toasted malt.

Palate without Water : Creamy initially followed by white pepper. Ripe banana, peach, and toasted oak flavours lead to a dark chocolate edge. A menthol note develops on the finish.

Nose with Water : Sweet and mellow with plenty of ripe pear and vanilla aromas. Hints of banana and strawberry mingle with subtle chocolate notes.

Palate with Water : Sweet with toasted oak flavours initially. Ripe pear, pineapple, and mango flavours combine with dark chocolate.

Body : Medium.

Finish : Long, drying with lingering pepper.
